Motherboard Upgrade options

Thread Starter
Hey fellas, I'm getting a new board in a couple of weeks and I cannot decide.

I have three options and the options are:

ASUS Sabertooth Z77
http://www.newegg.com/Product/Product.aspx?Item=N82E16813131821

MSI Mpower Z77
http://www.newegg.com/Product/Product.aspx?Item=N82E16813130660

ASUS Maximus V Gene
http://www.newegg.com/Product/Product.aspx?Item=N82E16813131830

Now I was wondering which of these three would be the best option considering the fact that
I will overclock everything in my CPU?

Which one has the best price to performance ratio and which is more bang for the buck?

MPower. Other two aren't even close to best bang for your buck title.

Other stuff to consider are Gigabyte Z77X boards, and Asus P8Z77-V line. MSI GD55 and up generally also good.

I'll list what I consider best bang for the buck.

First of all it's GA-Z77X-UD3H. That's a perfect board for most builders. It overclocks well, supports SLI, has decent VIA 2021 audio codec.
UD5H is step above UD3H that uses ALC898+headphone amp. It also has more ports, and uses x8/4/4 3.0 instead of 8/8 at 3.0 and x4 at 2.0 of UD3H.

UP4 and UP5 also justify their price tags by offering better VRM and Thunderbolt, but depends on your usage.

Asus P8Z77-V and V-Pro offer WiFi, but they use worse audio codec than UD3H/UD5H.

MSI Z77A-GD55 and up boards are good too.

As long as you pick one of these boards, you'll get best bang for your buck imho.

Comparing the Gigabyte UD3H or UD5H with the Mpower Z77, which one do you prefer?

MPower doesn't support offset overclocking, and also uses analog PWM.

UD5H has all the stuff listed above + headphone amp, but UD5H doesn't have WiFi (UD5H-WB does), and fan control is quite limited. Not sure about fan control on MPower.

UD3H also has digital VRM and offset overclocking, but without phase doubling. Then it has worse audio codec, and other stuff I listed in my previous post, but it's cheaper. Out of three I would still get UD5H.

Tough choice but I had to go with the Mpower because of the extra USB ports
