RAID 0 Gone Bad

Thread Starter
Have a customer that brought in an external drive in a RAID 0 config. They are 2x 1TB drives. The model of the drive is MDC2000. (http://www.newegg.com/Product/Product.aspx?Item=N82E16822204064) The one drive is bad or starting to fail. Is there software that is able to piece these two drives together outside of the hardware of the external device so I can clone it to a new drive for data rescue? This is a new thing for me so let me know if you have questions. Open to anything at this point.

There is very expensive HDD diagnostic equipment available.

If you have a Dual External Drive Docking station, try and clone the defective drive (hoping) that it captures every sector including the RAID0 information. RAID0 is the hardest to recover, so it might be screwed unfortunately. I have used a few linux tools to do this, some found on Hiren's BootCD etc.

Depending on the HDD you can try the manufacturer's diagnostic tools, but it sounds like you are already beyond that part.

You can give "recover my files" a try, if you know the exact configuration of the stripe size and which drive is first it should be able to pull the data.
I didn't have any luck recovering my raid0 group tho; couldn't figure the correct stripe size so the files were not complete but there wasn't any really important data on it so I gave up.

Beyond that, professional data recovery.
