I'd imagine if you didn't notice a bent pin, and tried to use it like that, you'd fail the POST because the CPU wouldn't be working. I'm still slightly concerned that even with a bent pin, he was able to boot from 3/4 RAM slots. Personally I'd ask for a new board, but if his machine is working, I guess that's fine too.

The problem was that bented socket pins weren't under the guarantee.
