Apparently, Microcenter sold me a 770 board instead of 970, and he's willing to let me exchange that board for the one I want.

So, now instead of me picking a crappy board again, I'll let you guys choose! biggrin.gif

Currently, Microcenter has these boards:

ASRock 970 Extreme3
ASUS M5A97 LE R2.0
MSI 970A-G43
Biostar T Overclocker TA970XE

I'm looking to overclock my FX-6300 (current board has horrible VRMs)

Out of those I would pick Biostar T Overclocker TA970XE. This Biostar has the best 4+1 phase power then the other ones.

I'd go with dixson on this one. The ASRock is nice but is rather expensive, way more than the Biostar.

Out of those options I would also get the Biostar. It is the only one with heatsinked VRM's. MSI's AMD boards have a tendency to catch on fire.

The AsRock is the cheaper one on most sites.

The ASRock 970 Extreme3 has VRM heatsink in it.

@OP
I'm looking at quality of the VRM. The Biostar TA970XE has the same VRM quality has the Biostar TA990FXE. I had a 8320 on a Biostar TA990FXE and oc to 4.7ghz without any problems.

The ASRock is actually 1/2 more than the Biostar in Canada. Forgot looking on US based websites.

I would go ASRock if cheaper than the Biostar, if not, I would go Biostar.

Is it really that good? It uses a 4 pin instead of an 8 pin.
