You can get two GHz Edition 7770s for $240 versus $290 for one 7950 here in the States.

EDIT: You could even get two Asus' 7770 GHz Edition with 2GB for $320, and that would probably boost your performance even more. thumb.gif

that review is old. but i am curious and would like to bench my 7950 against your 7770s. i'll turn ht off and set my cpu oc same as yours. if you don't mind to the benefit of the op. let's use Valley, 3D Mark 11, and Heaven 4.0. you're game using highest oc on our gpus?

I'm not big into overclocking, my GPUs are on stock clocks. I was able to overclock my CPU because of the XMP that came with the Corsair RAM I purchased. Lol.
I can get some scores up later though, but here's one from another thread you are welcome to compare to in the meantime: http://www.overclock.net/t/1241515/the-amd-7700-series-club/70#post_18631931

i'll do it at stock, too. i always thought the the 6870 is more powerfult than the 7770 before i saw one member oc'ed his and beat a 6870. amazing. i think it was a moderator who got his past the 5000 mark.

Yeah, they are definitely good cards for a budget.

EDIT: Quick benchmark in Unigine that I was able to run before leaving for work:

Lol. Sorry about that. Well, since you can't CrossFire, I suppose a 7870 would be your best bet if you are on a budget and can only upgrade to a single graphics card.

Also, here is my benchmark score for max settings (still on stock GPU and RAM clocks):
