I'm leaving again on the 7th too.
I only ever travel for the weekends though, like we talked about before, so it's actually really just as rough for a completely different kind of reason. I think...

You're back long enough to get a handle on home, then you go again.
I'm not there long enough to get familiar with anything at all, and everything changes so fast around the kids and even my wife that a quick 2.5 day trip is never enough!

I'm going to see if I can get the clamps done tonight, but since Tues is the start to my guild's raiding week, I'm not sure.
I also have a major dental appointment today, so if I feel like crap, all I'm going to do is eat ice cream and watch movies!

Thanks - T

Yeah trust me I know what you mean and it is like this even when you work like I do for years. I come home and try not to change everyone's routine but they also feel like I am home so everything should be around me so everyone ends up feeling a little funny. I don't even try to get a handle on things as why they will change when I am gone again. I just try to enjoy family make them happy and then do it again!! everything is perfect until the day before i leave and then everything tears up and what don't on the last day dose 3 days after you leave.

QUESTION:

If I am going to make cable custom extensions for my 6-pin PCIe and 8-pin motherboard EPS lines, on the EXTENSION END, those need to be male ATX pins, correct?
and the opposite on the opposite, am I following? Meaning on the actual plugged-in side, those are female ATX pins?

I don't want to order MORE crap I can never use, so I want to make SURE, SURE, SURE!!!

Thanks - T

Take a look at your psu's cabling - both ends are female, connecting to male sockets, being sheathed by the male sockets. It can get confusing.

The original cables are female connectors at the psu end, and are female at the connect to the card & mobo ends.

So the ends of the extensions that plug into the 8 & 6 pin pci-e sockets on the graphics card and into the 8 pin cpu socket on the motherboard, would be female, just like the end connectors of your original cables.

The other ends of the extension cables, or the connectors that plug into your original cables, would be male.

Been over to the Sleeving Guide forum ? it has a nice picture set of the common connectors.

Hope this helps, I had to do a self-tut to be sure wink.gif

Hmm, how about this diagram

I appreciate it, thanks!!! thumbsupsmiley.png

Yeah, I spent some time over there earlier after I posted on my own log, and since I'm at work, I can't just stare into a pinout to see what's in it, but I wanted to get the order in before COB for today...

Thanks - T

So I was doing some flipping around the "pages" of OCN, and I came across a thread showing that Haswell is quite the burner, and in almost mandatory need of a good delidding.
This makes me sad dinosaur. sad-smiley-002.gif
I want to put a next-gen CPU / motherboard in this build when one drops that I REALLY like, but it looks like Haswell won't be the one.

Might be waiting until September for the next Intel dog-and-pony show! rolleyes.gif

Thanks - T

We saw a posting of temps under Prime Burn, showing near freaking BOILING across all of the cores simultaneously, and that was on an AFTERMARKET air cooler...
Granted, NO other testing conditions were known, but still. Yikes. bigeyedsmiley.png

Again, not a lot of outside info at this point, but we will know in a week or two!

I may wait for the next 2011 chips anyway... That's September, right?

Thanks - T

That is why I only got the 3930 instead of the 3970 is I also want the new 2011 chips with PCIE 3.0
