Double, double, toil and trouble... buttkick.gif

This is why going small here doesn't matter:

This is my Haswell build case, coming TODAY in fact, and I'll save the CaseLabs MH10 build for a next-gen X79 platform!

Thanks - T

TO ALL MY FANS!!!

Consider this log CLOSED UNTIL FURTHER NOTICE!!!

I have opened another log for my M-ITX build, the SG05BB mentioned herein, and it is located HERE!!!

I hope you will all go look and give me some follows there, and then you can ALSO follow my new Haswell build when I start it on Monday!

Thanks for everything, and I will see you all back here when I build in my S3, if I don't sell it!

Much appreciation to all!

Thanks - T

OK, SO!

I'm back in this kitchen, and I'm baking an ugly cake, baby!

Bringing a windowed top in from CaseLabs...

Ordered the new Cooler Master Glacier 240L (Swiftech's H220 rebranded) from Newegg...

Stripping the SG05 for it's core components ASAP...

Snagging a Sapphire TOXIC R9 280X as soon as I see one available somewhere...

And then the UNKNOWN SOLDIER will live again!!! biggrin.gif

Thanks - T

No reason to spend more on TOXIC if you are going to WC, right? Wait for the R9 290's (non-X) to come out in a few days to see how they do. thumb.gif

Would require water to make it worth it, right? And that would require more money, which this iteration doesn't need...

It's sad that's the case, but I have a nice little 7870 that's in my SG05, and it'll transfer over, and I'm going to replace the tubing on the 240L with my own blue Adv LRT as well!

Thanks - T

SO I WENT NUTS... kookoo.gif

And went ahead and stripped the SG05, plopped everything in the S3 (even the 120.1 AIO), and got her running again!

Everything's fine, and since this isn't an "OC" rig, and just a toy / fun-time rig, I didn't have to do anything at ALL.
Funny, I even added that WD Green you see in there, just to get the box out of my storage trunk... thumbsupsmiley.png

Notes:
1. Yes, that's the beast-mode Silverstone 38mm dual-speed FHP-141 in the rear, set to it's 900 RPM speed. biggrin.gif
2. Alternate name for this rig is "Surf-N-Turf", from the green and blue scheme!

Here are some pictures, and well..... There are many that will not appreciate the lighting right now, but I cannot for the LIFE OF ME win the battle with the ambiance in my house, so I went with what the rig was throwing off internally.

(First pic is of my new work light! He's so handy!)

After this the plan is simple:

First the flat top w/ plexi will get here, and that will replace the extended top and drop-in mount, which is no longer necessary.

Then the Cooler Master Glacier 240L gets here Friday, so I unbox her (with some pics), strip that black tubing off, throw on some of the blue ADV LRT I have - or even get some of that nice matte black stuff everyone's getting into now - make the run the correct length, set up the stock fans for a while to see what's-for with them, then close her up and get back to my Haswell build! rolleyes.gif

Could probably use a little more memory, and I'll do better pics soon too, but for now, this is the way it will be!

Thanks for the looks, comments, and suggestions!

Thanks - T

I was just thinking...

And this is just another idea that will orphan my Silverstone filger-lopper back to it's box...

BUT:

Maybe I take the Alphacool UT45 140.1 radiator I have and slap my two PK-3 fans on it, good 'ol P/P style, sling it up in the rear "exhaust" location, and whip some fittings around in there, just for fun!!!

Sounds like a lot of fun / work / fun!

Some good old-fashioned work got done!!!

So I got my Glacier 240L in Thursday, and due to a weekend away (most of mine are, unfortunately), I wasn't able to do anything until last night, but I got some work done!

AAAAAAND I butchered it!

Finished product (on the loop, that is) when the DiH2O goes in tonight!!!

Pictures of the finished product will come later, but for now...

HALP!!!

I got everything the way I wanted it last night, and then I pinned out the PSU and filled the loop, and not even a single hitch, save a little overflow out of one of my ports, and that was mopped up with no issues.

Seated the ATX cables, got everything boxed up, re-checked each connection prior, and then plugged it in to power up, and...
NOTHING.

Obviously I've done the obligatory "Is everything seated properly?" test, but being as this was at 1AM this morning, I didn't take the time to do anything else yet.

Question: If I had left the 8-pin EPS cable plugged into the motherboard during the powerup / filling, would that directly damage anything, or would the ATX have to be plugged in too?

Thanks - T
