I'd get one of the 470s depending on what the prices are, as they fluctuate. In my opinion, it can be easier within 5-10% of the 480, whereas the price for the 480 is roughly 40% higher (at today's prices, around 350 vs 500). So on a bang for your buck basis, the 470 is probably the king. That said, if it's not good enough for your needs, then price/perf ratio is irrelevant as you have to look higher anyway.

A similar philosophy can be applied to the 480 vs 490, as far as diminishing returns as you push all the way into the 1000 range. The worst deal by far is the Titan. I can understand if people want them, but getting the most for your dollar definitely is not one of those reasons. It's the most powerful single GPU card, but it's significantly worse than the 490 (and the 7990 for that matter) at similar prices.
