Please check over my build plans

Thread Starter
Havnt built a rig in 3 years, so Im sure im forgetting stuff. Just gonna upgrade the cpu/mobo on my old one since everything else is newer.
Plans:
FX-62 socket am2
asus m2n32-sli deluxe 590 am2

Going to put that in with the 300w power supply, ati x800xl, 2gb corsair ram, couple of dvd drives.
Looking for any potential problems before I order the cpu/mobo. Is that power supply going to be enough? Any kinds of ram that the motherboard wont like?
Thanks in advance

It may be advisable to check the wattage and amp rating on that PSU. Perhaps a little more umph!

You may want to go to the User CP (top tool bar) and then select Edit System Specs and enter your hardware there, then we can all see it and more quickly get to helping whenever you have a question.

PS...it looks like that feature is currently not functioning (probably getting some service). Try it later on when you get a chance...and good luck with the upgrade!

As said RE: the PS, somewhere around 500w + with 24 or more amps total on the 12+v rail(s) is what you should be looking at for good stable power with a power dependant vid card and OCing. It should have a 20/24 pin main power connector.

BTW, I love that motherboard, nothing but success with it. But yeah, the UserCP is working now, so make sure you fill that out next time you get on.

Ok i filled out a system, to the best that I can remember.
Am I wasting my time going with the amd dual cores? I dont need to be on the bleeding edge, but I do want it to be able to max out settings on new games for a couple years. I had heard that the amd64 ones are better for single applications where the c2d was better for multiple. Almost the only taxing thing I will be doing is gaming.
I was thinking core2 at first, but the top o the line is $1k for the procesor alone, same with the new quad core, which is more than I wanted to spend for both. Would the e6700 be a better choice than the fx-62?

They are great but they are not top of the line anymore but they do have 65nm chips now that would be great for overclocking (i bet?)
