But thanks for the ol' " I think his question is silly, so I am going to point him to google and make myself feel smart" routine. Had not gotten that one in a while. rolleyes.gif

I will just go ask the guys in the 7970 thread about it.

Actually he gave you a good reference. The first article shows some good results and the answer to your question. I found it and I wasn't even in the market for such a thing. Short answer is yes it would work and you would see some benefit. But scaling as expected offers less advantage than you might hope for. Short answer is though, yes you can do it and yes it would improve your overall performance. Read the first article. He gave you a good answer and an answer that is in more depth than we might be able to offer here with lots of data to backup said response.

Your right, and I was rude. I apologize. While indeed overall useful information, not what I was looking for. I am looking for benches from 8x8x to 8x4x4x compared. In a perfect world, adding a third card would add 50%, but I have a sneaking suspicion that it will be substantially less than that, due to scaling and pcie.

Unfortunately my specialty is Nvidia cards and So I cant say how scaling works for amd's design. I left the link in hopes that you find your answer because I believe with amd's computational power and higher memory bandwidths may scale well regardless of 8/8/8 or 8/4/4. Either way your performance will be excellent but i believe no 3way scaling is worth the money for a 3rd card.
