I am building a new rig! Help with suggestions please.

Ok so I have been jerked around with my s939 A8N-SLI Premium board from Umart in Australia. It was originally sent back because it was stuffed. They rang me and said it can't be fixed because there is no serial number on it. The mungruels swapped it with the original board because the original just died one day. So I think these bastards put a RMA'd board that got sent back after repairs. I'm not done with them yet.

So I am going to build a new computer instead of replacing the 939 board. Can people please help me with suggestions and input.

So what I can think of atm is:

EVGA 680i SLI 122-CK-NF68
x6800
Please recommend some ram!
Evga 8800GTX
Silverstone 850Watt PSU
Not sure on case please recommend some!

I've had it being dicked around by aholes.

hey, if money is not an option, i would look at going with a Extreme Core Duo CPU, with about 2GB RAM. also, instead of going with 850W of power, that's a bit of overkill, but what's really good nowadays is a dedicated GPU PSU, 250W from thermaltake, it fits into a 5.25" bay and powers your GPU separately, very nice...(",)

i would check out the cases on thermaltakes site, thermaltake.com - they got some really good stuff there... you'll just need to find out where they supply to in OZ.

get some nice sound, a 19" monitor, and you're set... hope this helps a bit...

Thanks for the replies everyone!!!

$4000-$5000 AUS

I have a 19" 960BF atm so I won't be upgrading monitor till 2007.

I also have a Logitech G7, G15, and a Wolfclaw Type II for FPS'ers.

I got a decent sound setup and I also have an X-Fi Extreme Music but was looking torwards the Elite. I am extremely impressed with the quality of the X-Fi.

I was looking at some DDR2 modules and there are just so many to choose from. I definately need some help in the DDR2 section.

I found this website here in Oz called, extreme pc.

lol, there must be some kind of expletive in that link because it's no good with all the "*********". I can recommend you some stuff but I don't know any Australian websites.

SUPER TALENT 2GB (2 x 1GB) 240-Pin DDR2 SDRAM DDR2 1000 (PC2 8000) Dual Channel Kit Desktop Memory Model T1000UX2G4 - Retail

BUFFALO Firestix 2GB (2 x 1GB) 240-Pin DDR2 SDRAM DDR2 800 (PC2 6400) Dual Channel Kit Desktop Memory - Retail

Those are my choices, depending on whether you want to go DDR2-800 or DDR2-1000

Basically, the RAM you get, you want it to be MICRON D9s. You can check what you are thinking about getting against the list here: http://ramlist.ath.cx/ddr2/

They are the best for OCing.
Lower rated latency is what you want as well. C4 rather than C5, because then if you OC your RAM, you can up the timings from C4 to C5 to get it to be stable. You'll have more headroom and better speeds this way.
