You're gonna need your working card to boot with in order to flash.

ok read through that. i couldnt get the file off of my god card though i dont think. I downloaded gpu-z and clicked the save file and my screen froze then blacked out (i about crapped my pants thinking i bricked the good one), so restarted and im fine but cant find where it would have saved the rom file. so i went to the tech power up data base and down loaded the bios i think is best for this card.

question though. now i put the bad card in the case with my good card and boot up go into os and do the cmd steps etc. but do i connect the crossfire bridge? id think no because it should be flashing through the mobo pcie slot. ?

You can get a user uploaded bios here. Are both cards the same? You usually only wanna extract the bios if its the same.

http://www.techpowerup.com/vgabios/index.php?page=1&architecture=ATI&manufacturer=HIS&model=HD+6950&interface=&memSize=0

No need for bridge, gots nothing to do with flashing. Pay close attention to the crosffire cards section and make sure your flashing the right card number.

yes i pulled up that page and got a bios, i just realized i can check against the one i downloaded versus working one using CCC to look lol

been rebooting like a madman ugh, it just will not even boot with the second card installed so i dont know how im going to be able to flash it. it hangs every time at the windows logo now. I got it into os one time and should have flashed it then.

now my pc is also telling me my windows 7 build is not genuine....f m l

Oh, just uninstall the amd drivers. Run the driver install exe and choose uninstall. It will prevent the drivers from checking the hash.

You cannot stick a vga card in while its on. There's electricity in the slots and will incur instant death of the rig. That was an exaggeration but you get the point, no bueno heffe.

Ok so flashed it and got the same looking end pics as in that thread. Restarted and it hung on the logo again currently trying restarts.

If I actually get into os again whats my next steps ?

Reinstall amd drivers then attempt to select cross fire?

Ok I got back in and it froze after like a second. Just got the option to boot into safe mode. But cant get online etc. So dunno really whats next lol

Hmm... you flashed it to the right card correct? You used the switch to flash the 2nd card by using 1 instead of 0 correct? If so then there's not much else to do software side. By flashing a working bios, you removed the driver hash problem so all that's left is hardware unfortunately.

yes im pretty sure i flashed the correct card because i did use "1" and not "0", because cards were in the machine in old (mine) in top slot then old (ebay one) in second slot respectively. And also i was able to get the pc at least back up to functional as it was before i started so that leads me to believe i havent blown up my original card lol.

so yeah unfortunately i think it may be time to return the other card and try again or not at all later....

depressing though I wanted badly to boost my machine and try crossfire frown.gif
