Well, motherboard issue addressed.

The 1055T and generic DDR3-1333 won't play well together if you want to OC. You need DDR3-1600 to most flexibly unlock 3.5Ghz+ clocks on the 1055T, as it is locked-multi and OCs via bus clock.

Even then, buy a 6300 over the 1055T if you can. It'll OC further and push harder framerates among other things.

Ah, I think I'm now convinced after reading comparisons all day that I'll go with the 6300 and 1600 RAM. I see in your sig rig you have the 990FX-UD3? If I understand correctly, the main differences between the 970 and 990FX chipsets are the CFX/SLI options?

I use a 990X chipset, a middle ground providing PCI-E 2.0 x8-x8 links rather than x16-x16 with potential for triple crossfire. Basically, yes.
