Are you trying to install the OS on the flash drive or create a Live CD/USB?

Yes I unplugged the windows drive. Sorry, my motherboard is an RIVE so it's UEFI. I think it can detect the USB in the sense that it notices only the free space available. My USB will be a live one and I used a program to extract the .iso onto the disk. (Universal USB installer). I think I may have disabled intel boot manager in the mobo. I'll report back on this.
