I want to get a decent (cheap) board for long term and i'm not planning to do major OC. I will probably get myself an FX-6300 processor and later upgrade to the Steamroller (the new CPU compatible with AM3+ socket).
Is the Pro3 good for minor OC ? If i'm not going to OC, will the Pro3 suffice ?

Again sorry if i say something stupid but English is foreign language for me.

They will be fine for a mild oc yes. As your going to be using piledriver they are less power/heat .aggressive than the bulldozer anyway so will be fine

Well for overclocking it seems that the pro3 will do a better job, because the extreme 3 will throttle. But I don't know if this applies as much to the fx 6300 than to the fx 8000 series. I myself have an extreme 4 and im really happy with it.

100% correct - will throttle the 8xxx fx cpu above a mild overclock, maybe 4.1. to 4.4. But is fine with the fx4xxx fx6xxx as they create less power draw/heat so could in theory be decent with the vishera rework

Just a look at the Pro3 in comparison to the extreme3 (the CPU area is a copycat design), along with the fact that is cheaper, is enough to understand that if the extreme3 will throttle, so will the Pro3. The only difference is, the Pro3 may throttle earlier. biggrin.gif The fact that there is no "report" that the pro3 throttles, is because not many users of the board come to this forum.

Do you think these boards will get the update for Steamroller (which is on socket AM3+) ? Will an FX-6300 throttle on the 970 Pro3 or 970 Extreme3 ?

This is what i know for now:
970 Extreme3
- 5 sata3 ports
- has heatsink on the vrm
- digital pwm
- 140W TDP (confirmed by AsRock)
- Japan-made capacitors (confirmed by AsRock)

970 Pro3
- 6 sata3 ports
- no heatsink on the vrm
- clasic analog pwm
- 140w TDP (unknown, not confirmed)
- Japan-made capacitors (unknown, not confirmed)

I can't go for the GA-970A-UD3 because it's much more expensive in my country. I can get the 970 Extreme3 for 60$ (50Euros) but the 970A-UD3 is 100$ (90Euros).
