Pictuorial: How To Sleeve Tubing - Page 3

I love the look of those sleeved tubes!

I'm in the process of starting my first build and I think this would definitely look sweeeeeeet, atm I have black tygon 1/2 3/4 planned but with those sleeves I could use simple clear tubing. It would look better but (probably?) will give me a little sight on the bubbles in the loop. Or I could use Tygon Silver, giving me less chance of any kind of growth.

But I have a question, what size of hose clamps do I need? Alphacool has them in 17-20mm and next up is 19-22. Would it be possible to fit the 17-20mm clamp? or will the 19mm OD + sleeving + expansion over the barb be too much?

Thanks!

Well My hose it 1/2" x 5/8" and my clamps are for 5/8" with just the barb it's fits no problem. With the sleeving I have to max out the spring clamp with my pliers and it was a bit snug getting them to slide over but not bad at all. If I would you I'd got for the 19-22mm clamps because they will open farther.

Thank you. You should post here if you do.

Though I would say doing this with compression fittings may be a bit hit or miss, as some are tight with just the tubing adding sleeving may make them impossible to do up.

Thank you. I heard that compression fitting can be tougher but I think it just depends on your fittings, tubing and sleeving.

You don't think the clamp will be too loose? I'm planning on using the Primoflex 19/13

I don't think so. The OD is going to grow when you slide it over the barb so it should be fine.

I have a question. If you put one of those LED lighting strip inside the tube, then sleeve the tube with sleeve that has some holes(?) or not so solid covering, would the effect of light escaping from the sleeve look cool?
