Thx, I'll probably just put the os on the SSD and games and programs on HDD's. Should keep me entertained for a bit lol.

The configuration I'd go for would be something attuned to thus:

3970X
32GB RAM
SLI GTX 680s (With additional AC adapter/converter box)
~500GB SSD - For the OS
Raid0 750GB HDDs - For games and data
BluRay reader
Killer 1202 Wifi
etc.

This will put you RIGHT at around your absolute budget, I know because I too often customize this kind of thing... a liiiiiittle too often. redface.gif

However, the Sager NP9370 will do what you need as well, and it'll do it without using up your entire laptop fund. tongue.gif If you fully spec it out like the model above, top end processor and using the mSATA drive for the OS, then you'll level out at around $4,300 if it's from XoticPC.com. biggrin.gif Just be sure to upgrade the screen to something better. The 72% Matte option is what most people pick.

You mean the 90% option?

I got the killer bigfoot wireless upgrade on my Sager , and I pick up more wifi sources and can connect from longer distances than my desktop. I am very impressed

I recently installed the copper cooling mod on my 15.6 laptop . The GPU and CPU now run 8 C cooler . definitely worth it , it cost me about 40 bucks to do my self because I had to buy a wrist grounding strap , thermal epoxy , 90% alcohol and 2 sets of the copper heat sinks.

the 90% NTSC Color Gamut LCD monitor upgrade also looks incredible, better than any monitor that I have ever seen.
it is just a little too red , easily fixed in control panel/color management . just use some skin flicks to adjust the red till its perfect
the CPU upgrades are the most expensive and the least noticed, I will upgrade to the fastest when the price drops

Well like I said I'm a trucker so I'm glad that the bigfoot wireless works well and as far as the screen goes I'm gonna have the calibrate it or whatever to get better color, I'm not sure if I wanna do the 90% glossy or 70% matte. I also decided that I'm just gonna go with 1 128gb SSD and just 1 750gb HDD, if I need another down the road i'll buy one but it's just a gaming laptop so not much will be stored on it other than games and not gonna get raid either. Can't wait biggrin.gif
post #25 of 35
Ok , I need to say it... With 32GBs of ram you won't notice ANYHTING even with 16GB you won't notice ANYTHING. Just got 12-16 GB max man because there is no point in blowing your money on parts alone. Be smart about this. You and I actually are in the same boat except I do not drive a truck, but I do travel ALOT. I might as well be a truck driver, I travel place to place with my laptop and have to stay in areas for 3-4 months at a time and a lot of the time there is no internet!

So, take it from me that what you are going to want is reliability , so check out the Warranty options because if you travel a lot you never know what can happen man!. Also, these laptops aren't too bad to upgrade yourself... you could actually purchase the parts yourself if you get the time to do that. You can easily upgrade them too!

Also, I'm not sure if you chose the 120hz monitor BUT choose that monitor, 120hz is great for gaming. Also, you may want to add the cooling option if you are going to be in your cab... I know the sizes of those things vary.

You gotta remember man, games have not hit the point to where you need the BEST parts right now lol.... trust me. Play Dead Space 3 Maxed out and you will be disappointed. Just saying with the budget you can get some extra things like a new keyboard and mouse and some gamine headsets biggrin.gif. ALSO look into the Razer Edge Pro... it comes out in 2 months. Its a gaming tablet from Razer and it has real PC parts in it. Lots of options buddy biggrin.gif

Great build! And Xotic has been around for a quite along time so I would not worry about it.
