If i can what woud the performance be comparable to? jw planning on buying 2x 7870s on sale for at or around $400 willing to go to 3 way if its possible and worth it

i have 4x slots on my mobo so i got plenty of room thanks for your help and def i need to know

A) what is a comparable performance for 2x 7870s

B) comparable performance for 3x 7870s

C) is it worth just getting 7970 ghz? it has one of the worst value rankings atm

Nope, two 78xx cards max in cfx. 2x 7870s is a lil faster all around than a 7970. I would just get the 7970/7950, more room for growth. 7870s are limited to two so if you start with two you are deadlocked.

I don't think you can go 3 way crossfire since theres only one bridge. Even if you found a card with two, the drivers probably won't support it.

I would probably just go ahead and sell your current 7870 and go for a pair of 7950's if your really feeling the need for power.

Your biggest issue is the limited PCI-e lanes that your chipset has. You can only really run 2 GPUs with enough bandwidth to not be bottlenecked like hell. Just grab a 7970 or 7950 and you can still have room to expand from there, while you can still overclock them to handle most every game out there at max or close to it settings.

The Powercolor 7950 is a pretty good card. I love mine to death and get great performance in most every game I run.

OP what monitor resolution do you have ? if its a 1080p monitor a single HD 7950 is enough. sapphire is a good option for 270 bucks after rebate.
