Pump is too powerful?

So basically I have a kitchen sink setup going:

Reservoir -> Pump -> CPU -> Quad Radiator. I will also be adding 2 GTX 680 waterblocks as well. The reservoir is the EK Dual Bay Spin Flow something or other. Pump is the MCP655. Problem is that if the pump is at more than 3 out of 5 on the speed, it creates so much churn in the reservoir that it starts sucking air bubbles. Did I buy too small of a reservoir or am I running the pump too fast? Or will the 2 gpu waterblocks add enough restriction to slow it down? Or should I ditch the reservoir and go with a T fitting.

The pump is running too fast. You have few components in your loop for now. You should settle for a very low speed. The MCP 655 is a very powerful pump. When you will add you 2 x GTX 680 Blocks, set back the pump speed to 4. You can also add another radiator (240mm).

The bubbles will disappear over time. But if you set it to fast, you will have to much flow and turbulence and the air bubbles will be suck back in the loop like you mentionned previously.

Might be too small but just fill it up more with water and eventually it'll disappear. Don't think the 2 GPU blocks will add that much more to it to slow it down enough for the bubbles to completely disappear

That's what I've done so far is to just fill up the reservoir all the way to the fill hole. Except EK has Min and Max lines that are way below that...not sure why...maybe so you can admire a really slow waterfall?

@above... I forgot what I said now... guh but basically it took a while but it works.... however, you don't need to run the pump at full.

i would just fill the res more, also its not going to matter a whole lot performance wise if you get airbubbles due to high flow, it will just make more noise in your pump.

try to fill the res as high as it can go, then cap it with a plug.

Every reservoirs have chambers, one for inlet and the big one for outlet. Those chambers are made to slow down the intake flow from the loop, and to keep air away from outlet to the pump. Tube Res have anti-vortex (turbulence / anti-cyclon) and Foam.

If your pumps are too fast, air will be all over the reservoir.
Just fill the reservoir close to maximum while the pump is running. Set the pump at 2-3 and let it run for 10 hours. (24 hours is better thumb.gif)
Then when you are done, put the plug back on the reservoir and turn off pump.

If you reservoir is filled to the top and you shut off your pump while the res is still open, it will spill all over.

EK did minimize the impact of air bubbles with this res by shielding the outlet with a "wave" of plastic....it's just that the res isn't very deep so airbubbles are hitting the bottom, bouncing back, and getting sucked around the wave back into the pump.

So far it seems I can get away with 5 with it filled all the way to the top. I still get micro bubbles moving through that make a pop noise but I agree with above...doubtful it would affect cooling performance given the mass velocity.
