That. And 1.4v Max is MY suggestion to the CPU/NB voltage for air cooling, not CPU Vcore.
OP, I know you have many questions. Things will be simpler over time. Until then, just ask anything. We will be more than happy to help.
Sidenote: Voltage helps stability,not performance.

hi could u guys help me i have the same cpu and i have this mobo ga-ma770t-ud3p and i have already oc to 3.8 on 1.4volts and my temps are 34idle-54c @ load and my nbspeed is set at 2200mhz is this a good overclock

Should be able to increase the NB over 2400, probably 2600 or more with the right volts.

Everything else sounds cool, pardon the pun - fill out your sig rig below so people don't have to ask you about your parts each time.

You from Perth mate? Perthite here, although not living there at the moment.

one thing i find very weird, is that i can get the nb to 2.5k - 2.7k pc would boot go into windows no instability but core temp becomes 64c + after 2 mins of prime stress testing. i only saw that kinda heat when i had my cpu @ 4.2 - 4.3 and had to go down until i get a better cooler. how does this even adds heat to the core/cpu temps??
all i want from this chip is 4.2. also since i oc'ed my nb should i also oc the ram to 1600 "originally its 1333 but kingston said it'll work @ 1600" or the current 1400 would do?

skitz9417, if your cpu is black edition then u dont need to up the volt to only get 3.8 you can just use the multiplier and keep the stock volt.

is your mobo the one in this video ?

There's a second issue with your setup, and that's the lack of VRM cooling on your mobo. Overheating VRMs due to lack of cooling whatsoever may hold you back from an overclock as safety features activate and throttle the processor (VRMs are key in supplying processor power), reducing performance. Find/get some VRM heatsinks or a small fan. You can read more about why this is important in the thread (VRM & MOSFET info) in my sig.
