i5 3570k or FX 8350 for Gaming/Video Rendering PC? - Page 3

I'm thinking save a few more dollars and get the 3770K....
but as stated if the first priority is gaming then the 357K is the move.

since the OP states a willingness to leave AMD..
switching out PSU.?

After effects is another story, you'll want the fastest cpu and as much ram you can get.
I recommend a minimum of 8GB for 720p and 12GB for 1080p.

Both cpus are on par with each other with the i5 having a slight advantage in games.
The FX8350 is a bit faster at rendering but it also has higher power consumption.

If it was me, I'd get the FX8350 with 32GB RAM, but that's because I use AE everyday.
If you will be gaming more and just starting to learn AE, get the i5 3570K

I'd say this OP. It seems like you have a good amount of input. I'd think a quad core ivy i5 clocked at 4.5ghz will be very pleasing to you, I also think an octacore could be utilized and could be therefore better. Eitherway you can't lose! It's just selecting between what's what's great? And what's best.

personal opinion, if you got money id say save up for 3770k because starting modeling and editing will certainly lead to even more of it and you are gonna want more performance with more threads for those apps and since intel also has really good single core performance, if you dont have that money i'd definetely go fx 8350, again will help you with those multithreaded apps in the future and not a huge loss in gaming.

The way i see it, if you went i5, youd get some better performing gaming but when you start getting alot into rendering and modeling, you are gonna want more power and end up spending more if you decide to move the the 3770k for the hyper threading.....so that's why i say i7 instead of the 3570k first IF you had money, because the 8350 isn't such a heavy loss on gaming and a good benefit on what you are starting to do and what will eventually lead to what you will do more of (3d modeling, rendering) hope that made sense.

If this whole video rendering and 3d modeling thing is not gonna be a huge factor in your future, by all means i'd say 3570k then. Confusing a little, yes lol biggrin.gif

Based on this 8350.

Multithreaded scenarios has the 83xx pull through. Those extra modules (cores) I believe are actually a bit stronger than the HT threads that Hyper-Threading gives you...

3770k does have 8 threads but a true core/module would perform higher in a more/heavily multi-threaded scenario

if staying AMD then the FX- 8320 is the better buy...
if the FX- 8350 is on sale then maybe so.

I still like the Intel solution better.

I'm in the same kind of situstion. My original build thought is 3770k anf ud3h. Then I received a newsletter from the local online store stating that 8350 is same price as the 3570k. So I am now rethinking as it will be am3 and next year amd will also use am3. So my build in sig will actually need just a cpu.

Gaming and casual photoshop, auto cad and some vodeo efiting for gaming videos is the purpose of the rig. And gaming comes first. Will the 8350 be as good or more "future proof" or just save up for a 3770k
