Thread Starter
I recently got my MSI K9A Plat. set up, and am going for a RAID 0 or 0+1 configuration (havent decided yet) using 2 (or 3) WD Caviar RE16 320gb sata drives. I have no problem setting up the raid in bios or in the raid drive config utility that launches after post/before winxp setup starts. All the drivers that I have tried, ones included with the mb as well as several different ones downloaded from ATi and MSI and also DFI, ECS, ASUS (any board that uses the ati sb600 southy), tell me that the drivers are corrupt when trying to install them during winxp setup ('F6' press at setup start screen, then 'S' after all other drivers load).
Now, the drivers that MSI is telling me to use say AHCI8086 or something to that effect, of which the readme states that it is for an IDE-RAID. But I am setting up a SATA-RAID, which I would assume makes a huge difference. Thing is, the SATARAID folder included on the CD says its "Silicon Image Raid Controller". Will this controller still function to control the ATi SB600 chip? I CAN in fact get those drivers to load, but then afterwards, once I get to the setup screen where it says, "press enter to continue, F2 to repair windows" etc, etc. I press enter, and then it tells me it cannot find the/a hard drive(s). I know they are connected & powered right, the bios is detecting the RAID setup w/ both drives so thats not the issue. Does that mean that those drivers are NOT the correct ones?
There is also another folder named "SRAID64a". Which when I try to install those, it tells me is for AMD64/EM???(dont remember) which is what I have (x64 5200+). But as with the first set of drivers, xp setup will let me select to install them "Silicon Image 3x12 SATARAID control AMD64//Extended Mode Drivers", and then it tells me that the file is corrupt. I know for a fact that not every single version I have can be currupt, and I think this is its way of saying that that driver just isnt going to work. I know its not either of my 2 floppy drives damaging the files because according to MSI's forums, other ppl have had this exact problem with this board; asking for help, yet there is no answer to the problem offered anywhere on the site. Also, I've seen other sites saying that there are similar problems when setting up the SB600 for RAID on OTHER manufacturers boards, so it may not be the board itself, but a problem with the hardware/software of the ATI Southbridge
MSI tech support tells me that "those are the correct drivers, make sure they are on a good, formated floppy, in the root directory, and all will be well". I'm not an idiot, I've done this several dozen times to no avail. I have thought of calling MSI-tech, but figured I would ask around here first, as I dont have long-distance calling here at home, and would have to use precious cell-phone minutes for a call that I know will be very long. I have found an answer to almost every question I've ever had here at this site, and hope that the same shall hold true for this as well.

Anyone who can help me out here will have my never-ending thanks and devotion, I will seriously love you forever... much thanks in advance.

** I've also posted this in the "AMD Motherboards" section of the forum, to increase my chances of getting a valid/correct solution to the problem
