i7-3770k or and i5-3570k - Page 2

You have limited overclocking options, however you can take it to 3.9GHz. As for which chip, I would say stay with what you have. The only gains you would get would be in benchmarks, not anything worth the cost in the way of gaming experience.

Just wait for Haswell in a few months.

Haswell is the newest generation of Intel's i-series processors. The comparable processors should be the i5-4670/K and the i7-4770/K

You currently have an i5-2500/K which is a part of the Sandy Bridge generation from 2011.

The i5-3570/K and i7-3770/K are a part of the Ivy Bridge generation from 2012.

I will say that Haswell will use a new CPU socket, which means you'll need a new motherboard. If you'd rather stick with your current motherboard and only plan on gaming a 3570K is what most people would suggest but it isn't much of a leap forward from your 2500K which is a great gaming CPU.

I don't know even know what a BUS speed is tongue.gif

Would it even be worth looking into? Or should I just be happy with what I have?

Haha missed a whole page of updates. That REALLY sucks about the Haswells using a new socket. That just more money I'll have to lay down tongue.gif Then again, a couple of my USB ports have gone bad. I suppose this would be a good excuse to replace my current mobo biggrin.gif

Any word on which socket it's going to use?

Engineering samples were only displayed at CES 2013, you can google them, hopefully more info in time.
