I'm indecisive. What color tubing should I go with?

I'm going to re-do my tubing and can't decide between clear or black. I like clear because I can see if there are any bubbles that need to be worked out, but I have had problems with plasticizer in the past causing the tubing to yellow. I heard there are brands that have fixed this issue now.

I have never used black before and the only thing that worries me is if I go that route I wont be able to tell if there are trapped air bubbles. Another negative is it might be kind of "boring"

I currently have blue and it doesn't really look that great.

I know this isn't that important of a thread, but any input would be appreciated

A lot of people that have been running dyes have been recommending clear durelene tubing.

Haha I would normally suggest white or blue but without seeing your color scheme you having going I would say clear. Plus if you ever decide to go with a colored fluid or dye you can see it. I'm not a huge fan of black tubing due to it just blending in with most builds. Hope that helps thumb.gif.

^ +1 for duralene.

I use it in my build and its crystal clear so far, although my loop is only a month and a half old.
I combine it with Mayhem's Pastel coolants. If I ever get bored of it I can modify my current color with more dyes or just flush it completely.

I recommend buying it off of Amazon though. It still ships from sidewinderpc but for some reason the shipping cost is lower.

I don't have any pictures ATM but I can probably get some later tonight.

Also, the only real "theme" I have going is just basic blue and black. My components are pretty much all black with blue heatsinks on the mobo and blue tubing.

I cant provide any picture examples for you (proxy at work blocks most image hosts), but I think you should take a look at Mayhem's Pastel Blueberry or Pastel White in combination with durelene.

Not sure what tubing size you have now, but I personally think pastel coolants look great when paired with 3/8"x5/8 tubing because it has a thicker wall than the other sizes, so you see a bit of shine from the glossy tubing surrounding the matte pastel coolant.

This is how it looks in my setup, what I'm talking about is most noticeable on the right side tubing.

Of course I'm biased since this is what I use myself ;p but just giving my opinion.

I know what look you are trying to describe and I think it looks great. My tubing size is 1/2 ID 3/4 OD so it would be somewhat similar to what yours looks like if I went that route. I've always been a bit hesitant adding something other than water to a loop given the feelings people on OCN have about dyes. However, it seems like Mayhem is in its own category and the exception to the rule given all of the very positive reviews.

I think I will go the durelene route so I have the option to use Mayhem's pastels later down the road. Thanks for the input everyone thumb.gif
