Cool idea, I think it will add to the realism.

Sad but true...when I mentioned EQ2 I failed to note that the game is over ten years old.

How pathetic is it that we get excited when a new game "might" deliver something that old games did?

Though it sounds like they might actually be recording the voice acting in the real language and then using the translator to tell what they are saying in a Steven Hawking style of speech. I am not sure if I'd find that immersive or annoying. Though I am pretty well rounded in the language department...if it was only Spanish then I'd be fine without the translator most likely.

LOL, but they spoke English planet side and in the scenes taking place on their own ship. Though of course it would have been a very dull show had there been half the dialog in subtitles.

Everyone is going nuts about something thats not really that cool.. EQ2 had over 20 unique languages in the game that had a quest for you to do.

Pretty sure they all had personal translators, which a few times were taken/failed, making them unable to understand the aliens.

Anyways I think I'll wait until this game is farther along to start paying attention to it.

By the 24th century, universal translators had advanced to the point where a full-fledged UT could be built into the combadges worn by Starfleet personnel.

I know, I have far too much free time.

I wonder if the UT in Cyberpunk will be based on a similar concept. If they are recording the people speaking the lines in their native tongue, how will they record the translations? Ideally it would be with the same person saying the same lines in English, that would convey a difference in voices between various people.

I actually quite liked the use of different English accents in TW2, although I would imagine that that went over the heads of a lot of Americans. The English are very sensitive to accents as they often give clues as to the speaker's home and social class (yes, it still exists).
