Ok, so I have 2 questions here.

I'm SURE now that I'll be getting either the:

MSI 670 Power Edition

or the

MSI 680 Lightning.

I'm going to get these cards for EITHER:

Two 1920 x 1080 monitors

or

One 2560 x 1440 monitor.

I'm leaning towards the 670 because lots of people say that there is only a small difference performance between the 670 and the 680 but a big price difference. I don't mind forking over the money if it actually is going to help a lot (performance wise) on either my two 1920x1080 or one 2560x1440 monitor.

Thanks for all your help!

I would personally go with the 680 lightning but that's just me, they are meant to be great cards. Try to find a 4gb version if you plan on running hi res display, like maybe a EVGA 4gb SIGNATURE.thumb.gif

The performance difference between the two cards isn't really worth the cost difference. AnandTech shows that the difference between a 670 and a 680 is literally only all of about 3 FPS, usually less, in most games.

I personally am making a new desktop, and will be running 3x 2,560x1,440 monitors. I thought about three 680's for a while, but decided for the price difference I'm really better off with a 670.

If you're curious as to which cards I'm getting, it's an EVGA GTX 670 with 4GB.

I'd say you're better off with a 670, over the 680. Unless price isn't an issue. And if that were true, I'd suggest either one Titan or two 670's.

For 2560 x 1440 i'd go with a 7970

http://www.newegg.com/Product/Product.aspx?Item=N82E16814103201

Same cards i have. Did 1250 core on air with the reference cooler and MX4 tim swapped in.

Wow...the card you choose is very difficult to choose, because I love both ^_^, lol. But personally, I would prefer 680 Lightning because have better voltage control than PE card.

Between those two. The GTX 670 is the better bang for the buck.
If you are comparing a reference GTX 680 vs an MSI 670 PE. I would get the 670, since cards like Gigabyte GTX 670 WF3, EVGA GTX 670 FTW & MSI GTX 670 PE have no problem to perform on par with reference 680s even on max oc at a lower cost.
But the 680 Lightning overclocks like a beast, reaching 1350 MHz+ which might be around 7-10% faster than a max OCed Gigabyte GTX 670 WF3, EVGA GTX 670 FTW & MSI GTX 670 PE.
If you think the extra 7-10% is worth the cost get the Lightning. And if not, get the 670.

Just for the record, you can't game on two monitors only. Either one or three. At least I know FPS games will be horrible on such a setup, IDK about others.

I would go with the EVGA 670 FTW 2GB cards, which can use the modded BIOS to up the voltage to 1.21v, usually good for another 70-130Mhz. The FTW cards are excellent overclockers as-is, but the small voltage bump can push them that little bit further.

I would also recommend sticking to the 2GB cards, unless you intend to use 3 or more cards. The reason being that the 2GB cards' memory tends to overclock quite a bit better, which is where the biggest gains are to be had for the Kepler cards. Also, even the 680s don't have the GPU power to take advantage of an extra 2GB of VRAM unless you have 3-4 cards, and overclock them to 1200-1300Mhz each on the core.

Add in EVGA customer service and support, which is infinitely better than MSI's, and the FTW cards really are "for the win".

Well, he is planning either dual 1,920 x 1,080 or 2,560 x 1,440.

So maybe he should look into the 4GB EVGA GTX 670 "SuperClocked FTW" that I mentioned above.
I agree though, EVGA's cards are quite nice.
I understand that he is planning on multiple screens, but unless he is planning on multiple CARDS, there will be no more than a 1-2FPS MAX benefit for the 4GB cards at stock/factory clocks, but once you factor in the better-overclocking 2GB cards, the 2GB Cards win-out...
