From what I have seen with my 7970 memory clocks do have a small effect on PPD.

I down-clocked my memory from 1375 to 1050, to reduce heat, and my points for that work unit were 200 less than my average of around 8020/WU. I have been running the beta since release, so I have a pretty good pool of data to look at for PPD.

You won't see a big gain from the memory OC, but if temps are reasonable than you might as well grab the extra points.

True. Now they are actually worth leaving those computers on and Folding. Before I didn't even bother wasting the electricity.

I'm sitting around 64C at 1250 core, and the fan noise is "bearable" -- I usually sleep with a fan or two on anyway, so it's not bothersome (around 60%). I'm not sure I want to push it into the 70% range as it does get *quite* noisy. I suppose I'll just make up those extra points by running SMP in addition to the core 17s. I might pick up a 7950 on sale at Microcenter for the hell of it, but my mobo layout eans I would have to ditch my Revodrive in favor of it, which I'm not exactly sure I want to do.

Memory may have some effect but I will have to test. When setting my 7970s to 1250/1800 I get ~60k PPD, a bit higher than your 52k. Are you leaving one core open on the cpu for the GPu?

I also get ~65k @ 1330/1800 So I know core is doing most of the work.

Something I've been curious about.
Since the core_17 WUs use OpenCL, so use far more system resources than the normal Nvidia WUs, does the platform the video card is installed in make any folding performance difference?

I haven't noticed any stray core activity, so I was prepared to simply run smp -4. I'm not sure smp -3 would even be worth it.

Anybody else dropping bad WUs? That is 2 in the last week for me. I was stable for months at this overclock. Not sure if throughout the day as it got warmer my overclock got unstable or I just picked up bad units. I downclocked to 985Mhz and 1.137v just to be sure for now. Temps haven't passed 50-51C to my knowledge and usually stay around 47C.

Bad units as in ones that give you warnings while folding, or bad PPD-wise?

Usually due to overclock.. but sometimes a bad unit sneaks through or so I've seen other people report.
