Sims 3 crashes

Thread Starter
Hello everyone,
I run out of ideas how to make this game work, I tried everything I could find in the web to fix it.
This is the story:
I have a Lenovo Ideapad Y470, and it was all working fine until something in the computer start going bad, I made a post already if you wanna check out: http://www.overclock.net/t/1364738/lenovo-ideapad-y470-hdd-problem#post_19407489
To make it short, my laptop is having trouble booting and accessing the hdd.
The version is the Sims 3 Gold Edition which comes with all the expansions and stuff. I played the game before having this problem (which I havent fix yet)
But I also installed Antichamber, and it works alright.
The problem is when I open the sims the screen freezes and I don't know which component is, but something starts making like a chainsaw sound, and I had to restart it.
I know this is probably related to my main issue with my laptop, maybe this can help to know what it is.
Please share your thoughts.
Thanks

Does the game force-close, or give any error message? Is it only when The Sims 3 is launched?

Have you tried reinstalling and disabling custom content? Are you sure the computer isn't overheating?

Hello, thanks for the reply,
The game freezes, sometimes when the sims 3 logo show up, or sometimes when the video starts. The laptop starts making a loud noise, like the hdd is going at very high speed and is going to fly away. Its impossible to do anything another than turn off the laptop holding the power button.
I tried reinstalling the game several times, and without any custom content. And is not overheating.
Other suggestions? biggrin.gif

NP smile.gif.

I really have no idea. That's strange. Can you think of anything else that's changed between when it last worked and now? Maybe if you reinstall Windows?

I'm sure its related to the booting problem i'm having but I don't how.
Because I have installed Antichamber and it works fine.
Maybe is the RAM ...
