So... it's been 5 years since I've touched my computer

Thread Starter
Hey guys, I'm not sure if this is the section to post on. But anyways, my computer been getting the blue screen.

I'm currently on a budget & is not going to bother w/ overclocking anymore. Is there anything you guys can recommend me, for 200$?

I was planning to get the FX8350 Bundle from Microcenter w/ the gigabyte 990 motherboard. But second thought.. I really have no use for all those cores & motherboard.

The only thing i do on the computer is watch movies, browse "videos", and leagues of legends.

My current setup is (haven't touch anything for awhile)
Q6700 @ stock speed/voltage.
8GB of DDR2 rams @ 800 mhz.
750i motherboard from XFX i think
And GTX 570 w/ 2gb memory.

Do you guys think, (http://microcenter.com/site/products/amd_bundles.aspx)
the FX6300 w/ the MSI 970 would be a decent setup? Again, just for leagues of legend & videos. Maybe games like D3 & path of exile.
Rams are going to be whatever is available @ microcenter.

(oh yeah, i want something that won't bottleneck my GPU. I can only play medium/low settings on Counter strike GO. @ 1900x1600

Budget is 200$! that's including memory!

Thanks,
A noob once again.

For a small budget like that, you might want to also look at the For Sale section here on this site.

But it's looking like if you upgrade your Motherboard, you'll need new Memory along with the CPU (though memory is super cheap, should take too much from the budget).

Get the FX6300 with the MSI board. You're not going to find a better deal in the for sale section..
That combo is $75 off retail. Idk how Microcenter stays in business with those prices, I wish I had one near me.

And get this ram.
http://www.newegg.com/Product/Product.aspx?Item=N82E16820145345
Its $48 with the $7 off code.
The Ram has free shipping and no tax, if you're unfamiliar with newegg.

I think your current computer is still straight, has plenty of power. Its about as powerful as a fx6100, maybe a tad less at stock clocks. What you need is a nice fresh Windows reinstall especially if its been 5 years.

If you are still getting bluescreens then you have a hardware problem. Most likely ram, and I am 100% sure that has lifetime warranty.

If you are bent on upgrading i would be willing to buy your cpu, mobo, ram.

Shame u dont want to overclock, you could probably get a nice boost out of that q6700 on a 750i

I see you already took that chip pretty high, i cant imagine your rig chugging on legends. Something has to be up, legends is not a demanding game.

+1 for this, Do a fresh install and see how it goes from there, your rig is not that bad.

OP is running at stock 2.66 GHz right now.

The FX-6300 is a good option for the OP and it should be able to handle CS GO without problems. There are better models out there, but with the severely limited budget it's hard to squeeze in a 200$ CPU.

He's trying to play it on a pretty high resolution. That 6300 is not going to give him any gains.

Good point, I had not noticed the resolution, do you think the OP is GPU limited in a game with such low requirements?
