go to the single card category.

I want the best performance on BF3 at 1080p. I have a i5-3570K and a 750Watt PSU as you guys were asking. I would prefer not to do Cross-fire or SLI, because I always hea of stuttering and screen tearing in BF3.

So I guess right now it's either the GTX 670 or 7970. Which one has the better performance/overclocking potential?

HD 7970 (1 ghz) is a GTX 680 competitior. a good clocking HD 7970(1200 mhz) wins more than lose to a GTX 680(1300 Mhz) across a wide range of games. here are a few BF3 mltiplayer benchmarks

OP if you are interested in Nvidia exclusive features like PhysX, adaptive vsync or will use CUDA accelerated apps go with the GTX 670 else go with HD 7970. the game bundle on the HD 7970 is an excellent value add. if you won't play the games you can cut your cost by selling the game coupons.

I think I might go with the 7970 Ghz Edition. It's a little over my budget, but it seems to be a competitor to the GTX 680.

OP a HD 7970 Ghz is a factory overclocked HD 7970. runs at 1050 mhz core clocks with a higher stock voltage of 1.25v. get a Sapphire HD 7970 OC runs at 1000 mhz with unlocked voltage . you can easily overclock this card to 1150 - 1200 mhz with a bit of voltage tweaking.

What the hell are you talking about, why why did you link him to the exact same card, but more expensive?

OP, get an ASUS, Sapphire or Gigabyte 7970, you will not regret it. If you want an Nvidia, get an ASUS, EVGA or Gigabyte 670.
Both are good options, and make sure to check out NCIX.com, graphic cards are usually like $30-$60 cheaper.

So the Ghz Edition is just a factory overclocked 7970? So I can make a regular 7970 a Ghz Edition by overclocking it myself? And is the only 7970 OC with unlocked voltage the sapphire one that you linked?

Just to confirm, this card can be made into the Ghz Edition without any problems?

yeah the Sapphire HD 7970 OC can be overclocked to much higher speeds than 1050 mhz . 1150 mhz is average overclock for this card. gigabyte hd 7970 oc(1 ghz) is voltage locked.
