OC Glitch?

Thread Starter
Does anyone have an answer to this problem....I have a completely stable overclocked system... until i restart. When i exit bios/restart, my system will shut down for about 3 seconds and then boot back up by itself. I have pinpointed it at 972 fsb. One notch higher and this problem will occur. Keep in mind it is completely stable at a much higher fsb under all apps such as prime and any other one you can think of ...except when i restart. I have already tried to add voltage to everything.. cpu, ram, pcie bus, northbridge, fsb termination voltage etc etc Any insight to this odd occurrence would be greatly appreciated.

specs,

pentium4 651
asus P5WD2-E premium
crucial ballistix 2gb pc2-5300
thermaltake purepower 500w twv

IIRC, this is normal for those Asus boards.

Don't count me on this though.

Id be content if this was normal. It just seems as if it would be rather rough on the hardware to have this happen every time i restart

ASUS P5B Deluxes had this "problem" until a BIOS update fixed it. Perhaps a updated BIOS for your MB would fix the problem.

Just got bios version 604 yesterday with hopes of it solving this as well. No luck

It's normal. Same thing with the Gigabyte boards. I think (but I'm not sure) it went away with the latest 0804 bios on my P5B. Since I flashed I'm not sure if it does it anymore. There's nothing to worry about but I do admit it gets pretty annoying.

No, I don't think it's rough on it.
