I personally like AMD for single-card setups, it's great bang for the buck. But after being reamed by their crappy and inconsistent Crossfire / Dual Graphics / Eyefinity drivers multiple times, I would never buy AMD for anything other than a single-GPU, single-screen setup.
I'm sure people will argue with me, and maybe I've just had bad luck, but I love my nVidia setup because it just works. I was basically forced to sell my Crossfire Eyefinity setup because nothing worked. Ever. Vsync didn't work, I had tear lines, I had stuttering, I had much worse tearing than I should have, Crossfire rarely worked properly "out-of-the-box." I was sick of having to spend forever tweaking to get anything to work.
I did love my 7970 on a single screen though, worked great. SLI with surround worked much better for me, which I still find funny because Eyefinity has been around longer.
