Opinions are subjective (no surprise). But I will list the # of things that stopped me from getting BF3 altogether:

1. Teamwork dilution (elimination of commander position/larger squads in favor of 4-man squads).
2. Advent of grinding/perk progression to be able to use weapons and attachments. Unlike the majority of players, I want to simply enter a server and play the game, not have to spend countless hours leveling up just so I can get the same gear and compete with high levels.
3. Having to pay extra for DLCs and premium status that come with insignificant map pack releases.
4. Being forced to use an additional game client on top of the game.

BF2 and BF:BC2 will forever be my favorite games out of the entire franchise.

Not hard to find people that agree with me...or at least people that don't like BF3. I don't know if I've found any one who liked BF2142 that actually likes BF3. What I find insane is how many people out there never played BF2142. They really missed out.

BF3 doesn't compare because of no commanders and no in game voice resulting in a largely single player multiplayer game. Tell me why you think it is better? Let me guess...graphics?

He never said it was better, he just said its not as bad as you make it out to be compared to bf2 and 2142. I do not understand why people crave for the commander so much, he never really did anything and was a teamkiller most of the time as for voip, nobody ever used it in bf2 and 2142, I recall many people disabling it because it supposedly gave better performance. I also liked 2142 alot compared to bf2 much more balance, much better gunplay however people did not like the future settings and the fact it came out only a year after bf2 left a sour taste in people's mouth.

How ironic that bc2 is one of your favorite bf games and it suffers from everything u described except for the game client which fans wouldnt care about in the first place.

But has there been a single player game that has you buy in game credits with real money? Or a website you can go to buy unlocks for weapons or outfits that apply to just one character? Or a button you click in the game that launches an item store?

The closest thing I can think of is the credit you can buy on some Origin games, but you only use those credits to buy DLCs...granted a lot of DLCs are just extra appearance stuff, but the same things could be just put into a really poor expansion since it effect your current game and all future games. It is really when you get into consumable items when the term micro transaction is truly applicable in my opinion. Which is what Dead Space 3 has in it...the first of its kind as far as I know

"as far as I know.."

"I don't consider DLC microtransactions"

Are you even for real right now? micro transactions = DLC and it is referred to as DLC within every game i've played - and it is only for cosmetic stuff and early upgrades. IT IS DLC. THERE IS NO DIFFERENCE. All of the DLC is optional and isn't required for completion. Piling on EA while ignoring every other publisher doing the same thing is by definition = ultimate hypocrite.

as far as you know. None of the DLC in dead space 3 is even remotely required. It is optional just like every other game i've played, let me name a few:
These also have tons of microtransactions:
Batman: AC (did you whine about this title? No? Hypocritical much?)
Assassin's creed brotherhood
Assassin's creed revalations
Asasssin's creed 3
Bioshock 1
Bioshock 2
Borderlands
Borderlands 2
Call of duty (all of them)
Darksiders 2
Dead Island
Dragon Age: Origins
Dragon Age 2
Skyrim
Dead Rising 2
Street Fighter X Tekken
Street Fighter 4
LA Noire
Hitman Absolution
Tomb Raider

That's just thinking of recent titles i've played. These all have microtransactions, most of them have WAY MORE than dead space 3.

You didn't whine about the above titles did you? Nah.

BC2's MP server scaling makes it possible for a person with vanilla weapons to do just as well as a level 50 with unlocked weapons. That's called game mechanic done right.

UPDATE: Dino Ignacio, UI Lead at Dead Space developer Visceral Games, has denied today's story about the end of the Dead Space series.

"The reports of our death were greatly exaggerated," he tweeted. "Please stand by."

Ian Milham, creative director at EA and ex-art director on Dead Space, also took to Twitter to deny the story.

"Almost nothing in that article is true," he wrote. Then, in response to a question on Twitter: "I confirm nothing except the hooey in that story."

EA's US PR team has reportedly called the VideoGamer.com report "patently false".

"While we have not announced sales for Dead Space 3, we are proud of the game and the franchise remains an important IP to EA," an EA spokesperson told Eurogamer.

Yeah he should. It's disgusting gamers choose not to like a game, we should stamp that out

I haven't played bf3 in quiet a while, bored the hell out of me. BF:BC2 I couldn't put down, although I jumped on the wagon late, and only stopped for BF3

but when you take out the commander and voip...what makes it any different than say...ARMA 2? It becomes a shooter, albeit with ridiculous unlocks...close your eyes and you could be playing anything from original unreal tournament to the newest COD. All it has going for it are the vehicles and I personally think that BF2142 has it beat there as well, but that just might be my sci-fi side coming through.

Yes the commander had its down fall and there were some people that didn't use voip...but when people did use the voip and you did have a good commander or were the commander and squad leaders followed orders and worked with you...man...it was just a beautiful gaming experience.

And in any of those games can you buy power ups that last for only for your current game? If you're having trouble with a boss can you drop a few dollars and instantly increase your weapon's power? At most you could buy a side quest that you'd have to do to get more powerful gear, but that is something substantial

DLC = Downloadable Content. Actual Content. It something that affects your current game and if you uninstall it for a year and come back to you still will have it. That is fine, but just to even have the option to by instant power ups or in game items insults me and to be honest I don't know why. Like I said, I think it is like telemarketers calling...I see the obvious 866 or 888 number calling and I hit ignore. Even though I ignored it...even though I did not participate in it...it still annoyed me.
