Would like abit of overclocking advice E3300

Thread Starter
Okay so im relatively new to overclocking, but I know people can get this cpu too 3.6ghz without any problems. I can get my cpu to about 2.8ghz stable, but after that my computer will start acting funny? and if I try going to 266 I get bsod. My cpu temp when overclocked to 2.8 is about 30-35 so its not overheating, im pretty sure im doing something wrong or missed a step. Normally i use the Asrock OC software but I have used bios aswell.

System specs
Intel celeron E3300 core voltage 1.2v
AS Rock G31M-GS R2.0
2x DDR2 2GB

So yeah, any ideas on how I can crank this baby up?

Thanks smile.gif

I wouldn't try any overclocking because the ASRock socket 775 motherboards were not good for overclocking at all.  To make it worse, the G31 chipset is not good for overclocking either.  If you had a decent motherboard with the P45 chipset, then there would be some hope.

There are other factors, such as the CPU cooler (avoid overclocking with Intel's stock cooling), the power supply, and your memory.  With the power supply, I'm not talking about its capacity; I'm talking about its quality.  The same goes for the memory.

I'm surprised that you even got it to 2.8 GHz with that motherboard.

It's a computer!
