Tessellation in next generation - do I purchase a 6970 or wait?

Hello everyone,

I have the chance to buy an i7 2600k rig with a 6970 for $700 from a good friend and was wondering whether I should go ahead and snatch the deal or wait for newer components to come out.

Tessellation is much better in the 7 series (much better in 8 series?) than 6 series and, since it will be much more common in newer games, I was wondering if the 6970 could still fare properly in the new generation. I would not mind replacing the GPU down the road as long as the 6970 will be able to handle the first wave of games. I play @ 1920x1080.

What do you think?

List the specs of the rig. 2600K rig for 700 sounds overpriced

6970 is a bad purchase for next-gen games.
