(gamegpu) Tomb Raider benchmark - Page 7

That and enabling transparency AA causes some really strange water behavior. Standing in front of a stream, and you can see the water through the character and it runs all over the place. Using 314.14 beta.

If you haven't already ditch tessellation until the new drivers, and somewhere on the steam sub-forum for tomb raider I read downgrading to the last non-beta drivers did help some people, it may be worth a shot, I'm personally running them and find non of the issues you described.

Well I just played for about 3 hours straight, with ultimate settings except tressfx off and tessellation off as that seems to be causing crashes. On my 670, non overclocked and my i5 3570k is yet to be overclocked either, I played 3 hours straight without a crash. The game looked STUNNING, from water effects to the blood and gore (not a fan of the amount, but at least they did it well) to the smoke and fires - everything looks stellar IMHO. I've always been a fan of tomb raider for a very, very long time and I have to say I'm blown away. The first time I played tomb raider was when I was 9 and I've been playing it since and have seen the progression in graphics from the series. I have to say the game is truely not "stressful" with these two settings disabled, within those 3 hours NOT ONCE did the immersion break from an artifact or a frame drop, it was silky smooth all the way.

To address this topic at hand of AMD/Nvidia: Keep screwing around with benchmarks and numbers all you guys want, but to be honest, the actual in game experience is GREAT for my 670. I'm sure nvidia will bring driver updates soon and make it even better. AND I'm just as confident AMD would have no issue playing the game either, so my god stop arguing as to which is better because as it is now, everything is completely playable - I would just like to see more tressfx, simply because it is pretty biggrin.gif

Visit the steam forum for tomb raider, some people are having luck and some are getting really nasty bugs. Not sure what causes it, I don't have SLI so I didn't pay much attention to it. I'm sure the next driver release will address SLI

The last Tomb Raider, Tomb Raider Underworld ran 60+ fps all the time on 768p with ~70% GPU usage even on my 5770, mad.gif now see what have they direct given us with this release, 5770 is now dying to get 30 fps with 99% utilization. mad.gif we are being deceived ! How the hell is this hair thing able to give such massive load on the GPU ? For me its nothing but inefficient coding, they must provide us a patch within a week to fix this.

Really? Is it lack of optimization in that game or this is even more stressful than Crysis3?

You also need to account for the fact that TRU did not have as good as graphics as these in terms of sceneries, fires, water, smoke, foliage - there are a ton of things that look a lot better in this game to TRU and by a mile at that. I will give you that there are some optimization issues, in both regular code and strictly in the tressfx, but I'm not surprised your stuck at 30fps. An optimized driver and an update might help, but look at the hair, each individual strand is reacting to wind and other forces, it takes some serious power to computer and render that. On top of that it has to render all these other new graphics, so it will cripple some hardware.

If I had to guess, I'd say a little of Both. tongue.gif

Ati is trying to get you to buy their Cards because Nvidia went to war with Ati with the Physx feature Nvidia has on their recent Graphic Cards. So Ati was smart and built their more recent ATI Cards with a good API performer which Nvidia Cards are Clearly Lacking since the only Nvidia Cards running TessFx good is the Titan and probably a Gtx 690. You know Cards that Cost 1 grand while Ati Cards only cost between 250-400... Ati is smart. biggrin.gif

But the only thing not smart about it, is the Fact that I and probably other PC Gamers are not going to want to play a game that is getting Great Reviews Mainly because I can't have all the Special Effects. I remember when Batman Arkham Asylum was out and I had to wait to play that game because I refused to play that game without PHS-X on. At the time of that game released I only had a 8800gts 320mb which maxed the game out but couldn't handle Physx. Then I got a gtx 470 which handed Physx with pretty much ease, but then that card broke down and I was sent my Gtx 570 by the company on their Warranty.

Yeah I can understand how well they had been developing the beauty of environment resulting only GRRAAFFIXX, Have they forgotten what a Tomb Raider game used to be like ?
Now even they fix that FPS issue its not a Tomb Raider game for me,
Have you really played Tomb Raider I/II/III Adventure of Lara Croft, IV The Last Revelation, Angel of Darkness ?
They have gotten overwhelmed in creating GRRRRAFIXX only and I believe this is irreversible for them to go back to that gaming days. mad.gif
At least I can freely believe I am never gonna get a gameplay like old TR mad.gif

I can digest Crysis 3 stressfulness as all Crysis games have been hardware consuming since the start.
But Seriously, Tomb Raider madsmiley.png ?
