GENIOUS!! It was indeed a VRAM issue. I feel dumb. Until I replace my 2GB card with a 4GB card, stepping my 4GB card down to 2GB will have to be my solution. You are a Gentleman and a Scholar! thumb.gif

I am looking for the device i.d. of both cards as shown in gpu-z as they must
have the same device i.d. they can have a different bios and clock speed & they
must also have the same amount of v-ram.

You dont need cards of the same VRAM to SLI them, If you were to run a 3GB card and a 1.5GB card, in SLI mode, it would use the amount on the weakest graphics card, so it would be only 1.5GB VRAM utilized.

You can pair unlike VRAM cards they just will run at the lesser VRAM of the lesser card. Though they still need to be the same model.

EDIT: Wait, is there an exception the 600 series? am i wrong?

I think it would be best to sell the 2gb gtx 680 and buy another 4gb card for sli its more futureproof also more vram the better since your 2gb card will stave from memory issues with graphic intense games.

his graphics cards do not have the same amount of v-ram (memory) therefore they will not sli
and the sli option will not show up in nvidia control panel so there is not much else he can do
except exchange the 2nd card he just bought for a card with the same amount of v-ram.
I have built lots of sli systems and am using one now and I still have a copy of the nvidia sli
instructions on what will sli and what won't.

lol yeah the coolbit crap did indeed enable the SLI option, but once selected, messed everything up lol. I am having to re-install drivers now. What a waste of a graphics card purchase!!!

it is not a waste of graphics card purchase, you just have to do your research
ahead of time and get the correct parts too perform the task at hand.
no different then building your computer, you have to get the correct cpu for the motherboard
you chose, memory, psu, etc.
