Best PSU for Benching rig?

Thread Starter
Hi OCN,

Im slowly getting parts for my bench rig but dont have a PSU yet (yes, I know silly) so I am asking for suggestions on what to get.

I have a limited budget of about $250AUD spend.

I will be running various hardware from core 2 Duo's/Quads to Extreme chips as well as ivy and maybe x58 as well as multi Graphics card such as 4870X2 xfire and GTX 295 quad SLI.

I have been offered a brand new 8 day old corsair AX1200 for $260 inc post which fits my needs but am unsure if that is right PSU.

Could this do the above and whilst under LN2 (im buying pots now) biggrin.gif

thanks,

J

If it comes with warranty and you can get is a ~230$ than pick the AX, if not I'd suggest you go with an OCZ ZX 1250 (it's by Far the best priced unit of this caliber there). If however, value for money is a secondary concern, I would get an Antec HCP 1000.

So for $260 posted go the AX as even though its slightly more then what my budget was it is worth it in the long run? OCZ has a power supply I havent heard much about. and I cant find a antec 1kw locally.

the AX unit comes with full warranty from corsair, shop receipt and all cables and boxes.

260$ AUD seems a bit high for a used AX 1200. It's up to you if it's worth it or not. smile.gif
