The absolute is that anti-competitive practices are wrong. The rightness of the judgement isn't really subjective either. Being anti-competitive is wrong. MS admitted they were in the wrong. You can't get any more absolute.

And yeah, for sure. If you don't believe in government intervention regarding companies then yeah that is going to affect how you feel about this. But that still doesn't make them right.

Is that what got removed with Windows 7 SP1? Heh, I've paid so little attention to that it could have been gone for years. Or was it something new that was supposed to be added with SP1 in Windows 7? Hmm I am going to have to look this up.

It may have done in the US... but in the EU it was a window that showed IE, FF, Chrome, Avant (I think) etc and offered a download link to them (except IE, of course). They removed it with SP1, which was in breach of the agreement they signed.

Didn't know we had 12 browsers???

Also, how do you download chrome or Firefox or any other browser, if the OS doesn't come with a browser by default.

Android doesn't gimp other browsers or restrict their abilities and keep some select abilities for themselves. Everyone has the same access to the Android API and can develop for it fairly. Also, only Google tablets ship with Chrome, and you don't need to ever use Chrome to install a different one. None-Google tablets generally ship with a manufacturer customised version of the AOSP Browser and are, again, just as easily by-passed by going to the Play Store and downloading whatever browser you want. You need never use the preinstalled browser in order to change.

It does, it just doesn't run the full IE until you specifically select it. You can either pick IE and go about your business, or you can click Firefox/Chrome/whatever and it'll download the latest release for you (or take you to it's download page).

Yep...found a wiki for it. Looks like it was a EU thing. No one outside of the EU as likely seen it. That might be the big source of the misunderstanding. Seems like it would be rather handy really.

I am now vaguely remembering this...I probably didn't follow it too much since it was only in the EU. I remember thinking it was crazy to just start making the choices available in 2010 from a court case that started in the early 90's.

But to them it is, you don't mess with productive companies at all…

You don't understand the American right, which is why you don't understand your "adversaries".

I agree with you, I think MS should have been broken up we as a society lost to much with the MS onslaught of 1981 through 2007..MS killed to many small upstarts by swinging their big stick around PC OEM's..

Much the sam as Intel does now..

The part that kills me is Apple is the MS of 1996 yet people don't see it or care with exceptions..

The idea that the computer is for the free thinker is gone we're to partisan now I won't own MS stuff because of these cases. Folks here won't own an iToy because it's Apple..It's actually kinda sad..

I want Apple to make Mac's and MS to make Windows, I want to see a thriving GNU/Linux, I want to see the re-emergence of Amiga, Commodore et. al.

I want options, but until WE decide thats important to us it'll continue to be us vs. them..

The biggest reason I'm here is because echo chamber are BAD I can balance a little Mac with a Little PC and maybe remind folks that not all Apple folks line up for a week to buy a stupid phone and think that everything Apple does is "amazing" or "revolutionary"
