HD 8000 series release date?

Thread Starter
Hello, does anyone have any idea when the new 8000 series cards will come out? I want to upgrade from my trusty sapphire 4850 but dont want to be in a situation where i spend 400+ dollars on a 7970 and within a month the 8970 comes out.

Haswell is being a painful wait as it as and im thinking I buy a titan and get it over with but it want to wait and see what the red team offers as well.

Any advice?

Thanks smile.gif

Christmas is way too far, looks like I will go the 7950 boost way now then and get the 8970 when it comes out. Currently running an old ass e8400 @ 3.5 ghz and 4850 512 mb oc'ed as well. I love sapphire cards, my 4850 has been such a trooper, operating at 45c idle 70-80c load for more than 4 years now lol.

Im gonna water cool my next system though so cant wait to try that as well.

Plus if you go with a 7950 you can take advantage of the AMD Never Settle bundle wink.gif

I've been eyeing that card/deal. Any idea if it's a reference card and overclockable?

Not reference, and comes with voltage unlocked to 1.25V.

I'm waiting until the HD 8XXX series come out before I upgrade. I'm going red again.

yeah. the model no is 11196-16-20G. reference AMD HD 7950 PCB. you can see the AMD marking above the PCI-E connector. unlocked voltage. fullcover waterblocks available. you can check at ekwb site

http://coolingconfigurator.com/

the ekwb document for EK-FC 7950 waterblock clearly mentions (AMD PCB 109-C38137-00 equivalent)

http://www.ekwb.com/shop/EK-IM/EK-IM-3831109856246.pdf

you can see 109-C38137-00 on the 1st photo of newegg image gallery above the pci-e connector. use the zoom functionality to see the number clearly. thumb.gif
