What is the difference between Rep and Rep Received ?

Thread Starter
The other day I noticed that my "Rep received" count went up by 7 or so (but no recent additional entries in the list are visible) but my Rep stayed the same. I actually only noticed the discrepancy because I had reached the 250 Unique Rep milestone and went to see how the stats were and there was the discrepancy - being that Rep and Rep Received used to be the same number. I am fairly sure this discrepancy wasn't there before.

So, is this a bug or some unknown (new) feature ?

I just looked and I have it too.  My Rep Received in the lower part is 4,287, yet the Rep and Rep Received in the part above (right underneath my name) are both the same at 4,344.  The Unique Rep count is accurate.

Good question. I guess when we get the answer as to why they can be different, we'll know what the Rep Received represents.

I'm guessing that this is the result of some kind of old Rep that wasn't accounted for, perhaps during the platform transition, and they are still figuring things out, or maybe some Rep that was given in dubious circumstances a while ago, that now got added, but can't be officially reflected in the Rep, even though in this case the Mods should just not consider the Rep given where it wasn't due.

In any case, it's got my curiosity, as this Rep Given doesn't seem like it's from anything recent as they are not listed in the first page list.

Oh, I see, so your situation is even weirder as the Rep Received in the tabbed list doesn't match the Rep Received in the summary I posted. Not only that but the Rep Received you have is lower than the Rep, which is the opposite to mine.

In my case the list says Rep Received as being 300, even though there are no new Rep listed in the details.

Mine are the same ... 146 for both.

Here is a totally wild and baseless thought, that might explain it. Maybe the difference between the two is because the person who gave the +Rep has been banned or deleted? Hence "Rep Received" it the total Rep gotten ever, even if they were banned or deleted, and "Rep" removes such Rep given by banned or deleted users.

Again, just wild speculation on my part.
