Help me build a Sager 15.6" for gaming, video and photo editing.

Hello everyone,

Long time member, but I've been out of the loop for awhile. (Moved to North Carolina, bought a house, funds have been tight). I'm deployed again and my M11x is a little worse for wear. Going to send it off for repairs, but being overseas that could mean it's gone for four months. (I Have a four year warranty, where they send parts to a tech in the area to do in home repairs.

Regardless, I'm ready for an updated gaming/photo/video editing rig. I'll sacrifice weight for power, but not willing to go to bigger than a 15.6". (I had an HP Brick, 22", heavy as heck to deploy with)

I'm looking at the Sager from ExoticPC, but other than that I'm not sure what to go with. If I have to go with Aftermarket hard drives, ram, to keep cost down I will. I'm looking at going for a budget from $900 to $1500 USD. I would like a boot SSD, and I'm not sure on recommended ram now days. I've done fine thus far without an internal cd/dvd/bluray. I just use an external cd if I need to install something.

Any assistance is appreciated. Games I currently play are StarCraft II, Star Wars Old Republic, and some old games I can play offline. (Bandwidth sucks here) I currently run Adobe CS 5.5.

Well, I talked to the service rep and I can get a $50.00 Military discount. He sent me a picture of the aftermarket copper heatsink as well.

You can do that copper heatsinks upgrade yourself for at least $10 cheaper.

Also, cooling performance won't actually increase much unless if you increase airflow (such as drilling holes into the backpanel). The 91xx Sager laptops' intake vents are placed directly underneath the fans. Although that improves the GPU and CPU cooling performance, the heatpipes won't get direct airflow.

Thanks for the input. I'm not trying to void any warranties on a brand new machine yet though. I'm fine and dandy tooling with a machine I built myself.
