Is the MSI 1010 mhz 7970 OC a good card for OCing, and in general?

I'm thinking about swapping my Gigabyte 7970 OC order for this one. Main reason being because of the voltage lock on the GB, though apparently a bios flash will fix that.

There's also an MSI R7970 Lightning available on local Craigslist, as well as a Sapphire 7970. Weighing my options, and thinking about getting two.

Thats an amd reference so it will overclock very well. My diamond reference hit 1250 core with different TIM on the reference cooler

msi oc follows the reference design but is not reference. It uses the alternate pcb with different caps.

The caps are higher quality though, I'm assuming? And OCing should be no prob? I just sold off 6 Sapphire 6990s with the same style cooling. I kind of don't look forward to having another jet-engine card, but... gotta be able to OC, and it's discounted at a decent price locally, $389.

YW.

Hmm, are the caps better? Popular belief is probably not but only time will tell.

Hm. I didn't know that either. I have one, and a reference waterblock fit on the card no problem.

This card was actually available since release but they charged 50 bucks more for what amounted to simply a bios flash. Hmm, much like the overrated ghz/boost cards lol. Though I'd rather have this card than any ghz card.
