OS Dilema

Thread Starter
My field laptop (a Compaq Presario cq57) comes pre-installed with Windows 7 64-bit. However, the software I use requires drivers only made for the 32-bit platform. I installed Windows 7 32-bit from a spare cd I had, but since I did that it didn't come with any of the drivers the laptop requires. So I ended up restoring it back to factory settings, however doing so reverted it back to 64-bit... How can I make this 32-bit?

You can attempt to locate 32bit drivers_ sometimes a bit of googling around can get you those needed drivers if you know whats the name of the hardware your attempting to locate drivers for.

Usually 64bit OS are backward capable with 32bit software and such. What software are you using?

The software is both Kenwood KP-89D and KP-134D, it is for programming my radios. The software is 64-bit compatible, but the USB drivers I have to download are only 32-bit. The drivers are so that the computer recognizes the cable as a serial cable and assigns it a COM port.
