Hi everyone,

This is my first post. I'm new to overclocking and I've been doing a lot of reading on this site which has been very helpful and informative.

It has allowed me to get to a very stable 3.8 Prime 95 1hr+ and 3.9 Prime 95 for only 20 minutes or so.. Unfortunately I now have the burning desire to push my system as far as I can. I have seen people posting 4.2 -4.4 clock speeds and I would love to get there. I can get mine to 4.0 but not stable at all.

I don't know if my mem settings are holding me back or my mobo.. I've updated to all the latest drivers etc.

Any help would be greatly appreciated.

My Mobo is an ASUS M4A785TD-V EVO and my ram is 4x4 DDR3 Patriot Sector 5 1333 I'm using a H80 for cooling,

I kind of figured the mobo was dated.. I bought it and the cpu 3+ yrs ago. The cpu is a C3.

I've tried playing with ram settings in the BIOS but admittingly I don't really know what I'm doing there as I'm learning on the fly.. I saw that many people were getting like you said 4.0 + with the C3 so that got me extra motivated and positive that it was possible.

I was getting the itch to buy and build a whole new system but after reading all this overclocking I thought it would buy me a little more time before a big expense.

I was thinking about buying a new beast of a mobo as a foundation for a future build.. the Crosshair V formula as a good board with plenty of room for expansion (crossfiring my 7970 , new ram and cpu)

What do you think would be the best route? New RAM only and more tweaking? New Mobo? or do you think I could squeeze a bit more out of this current combo?

I have some screenshots of cpu-z and hwmonitor if you are interested..

Thanks again for your time!
