Has anyone found a fix to the constant freezing ? That is the only gripe i have with the game thus far, im not playing with tressFX. The contant freezes are really ruining this for me frown.gif

Try disabling tessellation. I personally don't have the game, but I have seen people report performance improvements with it off.

Actually I think he was spot on.
Even if the game was sponsored by AMD, still out of courtesy, it was smarter to get feedback from nvidia.
Being sponsored by either amd or nvidia, does not mean that you have to ignore 50% of your market by giving them a game which doesn't run as well.
I understand having TessFX for extra value, like the physx on other games, but having the game not even compatible with tessellation or giving directx errors just because you are using another graphics card? Its just bad. And I don't think its nvidia's fault. Tessellation works great on so many games.

AMD also had an history of having bad drivers until last year. They are not immune to this. The 5xxx series was plagued with driver problems, huge CFX scaling problems. The 6xxx series also have several issues at first until they finally fixed their drivers. Nvidia main issues before where heat (on the 4xx series). The 5xx series was golden for them. No issues, amazing scaling, owning the charts almost every time.
Now the 6xx series has issues and amd's 7xxx series is finally their golden goose.
Nvidia is set to release the next series in the summer if things goes on time. Go figure what happens than.

And regarding mobile. Proof?

I had to disable tessellation all together because of those freezing. Once its off, the game runs smoothly.

I haven't had any issues with freezing. I'm running a factory overclocked 580 on old 296.10 drivers. Runs really well without TressFX turned on. With it enabled, the benchmark gave me average FPS of 11. ELEVEN! With it off, I get in the 40s.

The fancy hair doesn't look even close to good enough to warrant quartering my framerate. The rest of the game looks pretty fantastic though!

Plus, it's awesome. Nathan Drake could take a lesson from this game.

Ridiculous performance hit for hair aside, I'm glad I pre-ordered this. Clearly a lot of work went into the PC version of this game, and I hope it's a resounding sales success so other developers will start to follow suit.

Not usually the one who would pitch in the blame towards anyone, but after scanning most of the info, it seems thats indeed the underlying problem with this Title. Hey, at least Tomb Raider doesn't have EA as a publisher! jerry.gif

So far for my own rig only one issue, I lost power and the Steam cloud let me down and I lost about 2 hours of game somehow. frown.gif

Though while not to give CD a pass they're not the biggest of developers with big pull so I think this might've been rushed a bit to get it out the door. And since AMD was already working with them they probably did get an advantage in that sense but I wouldn't think anything nefarious like purposely hurting NV performance like others have said. I would try it on my beater PC but haven't installed it but I might do it later in the week and see how it goes with SLI 460's.

Hoping both camps release new drivers for it though and improve the a massive hair hit on performance.

doesn't your PhysX card pull down more power then your main GPU.?
who does that.?

I doubt it, his Lighting is probably 1300-1400 on the core and probably an equally high mem clock. (haven't seen anyone have a Lighting 680 stock yet) But your greater point remains..........imagine the heat that thing must be feeding the 680... That 285 needs to be swapped for a 460/560/640/650/660 , or something that runs MUCH cooler on top of being far more energy efficient.

*edit meant 650 not two 640s tongue.gif *

That's what I'm saying. That they rushed the release, did a poor job and it's buggy. However the AMD cards fair better (not including the TressFX stuff here - that does better because AMD cards are much better at compute calculations) because they had AMD on a hotline, possibly even physically there.

And that is why I asked why it would affect only Nvidia, unless AMD got their hands on something in advance. Your answer would suggest that is the case, while also conveniently pointing out what you chastised the person early in the thread for noting regarding competitive advantage through sponsoring of a game.
3 fingers point right back at you, troll.

I'm not a troll. You are a troll constantly posting anti-NVidia dribble. Do I EVER post anti-AMD stuff? No, I do not. Therefore, when I argue both or and against NVidia and AMD, that makes me... IMPARTIAL.

Proof of your dribbling? Apparently NVidia re purposely making games perform bad on the mobile platform? Then you follow up whinging because of the Tegra effects available only to Tegra devices. That doesn't hinder the performance of other GPU's on phones. For instance, Dead Trigger runs just as well on my phone as a Tegra phone. Therefore, you are wrong. You say one thing, then come up with something else as an example.

And I was chastising someone for noting competitive advantage through sponsoring a game? WRONG. I was saying that it is not something either company does and that this is 100% down to Crystal Dynamics not QA testing thoroughly enough. I guess you conveniently miss the parts where I argue against the people suggesting that AMD purposely gimped the game, huh?

You really shouldn't bother replying to my posts because all you do is distort them and lie.
