New AMD PC Build

Thread Starter
Hello everybody,

I am very new to computer building and before I go out and drop $800 I would like some opinions, comments, suggestions first!

Here is what I currently am thinking of getting:

Mother Board: http://www.newegg.com/Product/Product.aspx?Item=N82E16813128519

Power Supply: http://www.newegg.com/Product/Product.aspx?Item=N82E16817152042

CPU: http://www.newegg.com/Product/Product.aspx?Item=N82E16819103727

OS: Win7 64bit

Hard Drive: http://www.newegg.com/Product/Product.aspx?Item=N82E16822148840

Tower: http://www.newegg.com/Product/Product.aspx?Item=N82E16811147060

Graphics Card: http://www.newegg.com/Product/Product.aspx?Item=N82E16814130826

Memory: http://www.newegg.com/Product/Product.aspx?Item=N82E16820231428

DVD Burner: http://www.newegg.com/Product/Product.aspx?Item=N82E16827136259

Some of my main concerns are compatibility issues with any of these components. I had a friend helping me build this with me but I thought in case he missed something I would ask others for help.

I am also concerned with my DVD burner; will it run a CD as well as DVDs? If not can you please suggest a decent alternative.

I am also worried about if all this will fit into the tower I have picked out. I know my friend says his tower was a tight fit with his graphics card.

Last comment is I really would like to keep this build around $800 give a take a few a little.

Thank you all for reading this post.

i would suggest to get a 7870 for better frames and if you can get a 7870 xt as it is a 7950 with just some locked stuff but run as fast and faster when overclocked.
A different power supply a corsair, seasonic. the raidmaxs are low quality.

hrmm..no RAIDMAX PSU..
see if I can find a better mobo @ that price point..GPU, too.
need a cooler in there somewhere...

PSU (same price)

This: http://www.newegg.com/Product/Product.aspx?Item=N82E16817151096

or this http://www.newegg.com/Product/Product.aspx?Item=N82E16817153174 ($10 more)

Mobo: http://www.newegg.com/Product/Product.aspx?Item=N82E16813138372 Same chipset in Biostar flavor..less boot loops.

http://www.newegg.com/Product/Product.aspx?Item=N82E16813131873 Asus Flavor 970 chipset

or something like this: http://www.ebay.com/itm/ASUST-M4A89GTD-PRO-USB3-AMD-890GX-CrossFireX-Socket-AM3-ATX-Motherboard-DVI-HDMI-/270926969019?pt=Motherboards&hash=item3f148178bb ($85)
m4a89gtd pro is a very strong motherboard.Stronger than any of the others listed..only Crosshair 4-5 are stronger.

ok..gpu..$220-ish

evga 660 is pretty good..I'd rather have a red card, though..
http://www.newegg.com/Product/Product.aspx?Item=N82E16814161411

http://www.anandtech.com/bench/Product/548?vs=660 scores better in most things before overclocking, even.

keep the cpu..

or.. sneaky.gif save a little and get a cooler http://www.tigerdirect.com/applications/SearchTools/item-details.asp?EdpNo=2375447&CatId=4433 $88

http://www.newegg.com/Product/Product.aspx?Item=N82E16835226051 $26 cooler...same design as the one that was the best on frostytech for a while..I have one..it's decent.

or: http://www.newegg.com/Product/Product.aspx?Item=N82E16835214023&nm_mc=OTC-Froogle&cm_mmc=OTC-Froogle-_-CPU+Cooling-_-Enermax-_-35214023

Everything else looks pretty good...Good luck with your new build!
If I can say one thing..You can never have too much PSU...go heavy on that from the beginning;heavy as you can.

;;eek:: You could save on the case..case schmase..
http://www.newegg.com/Product/Product.aspx?Item=N82E16811192289 $30 shipped
