there is truth in this to a certain point, the ASUS 970 and ASrock 970 boards have a very good power system and there are alot of people on here that are running 8350's with 970 boards

stay clear of the MSI 970 boards

i would pick those boards for anyone wanting to do an AMD build or upgrade their board. The reason i dont like asus is that they dont seem to be very consistent with product quality. ive given them 3 chances (two rampage 3 extremes, both RMA's) and a P9X79 WS. the P9X79 WS was rather solid but the R3E's were pretty bad. they wouldnt support my 990X because it was a B1 stepping. kind of silly if you ask me. I'm also not a fan of their software support, a lot of their BIOSes are very hit and miss. Gigabyte on the other hand though, ive not had a problem with them

I can now see why you don't like ASUS, the only reason I have not been suggesting the 990FX chipset is I think the OP is on a tight budget. Both of thoughs boards are very good thumb.gif

That board does not support your CPU.

http://www.gigabyte.com/support-downloads/cpu-support-popup.aspx?pid=3967

95W versions only. That's most likey why it's downclocking your CPU.

As others have suggested, you should get a better board, especially if you plan to overclock.
My Budget Recommendations:
- GA-990FX-UD3 Rev 1.1
- GA-970-UD3 Rev 1.1
- M5A99X Evo 2.0
- M5A97X Evo 2.0

I like Gigabyte too. My last one was an LGA775 mobo and was bloody good but have had good run with Asus over the last 3 builds or so. This http://www.newegg.com/Product/Product.aspx?Item=N82E16813128514 mobo is about the best looking one Ive seen. I like Gigabytes black mobos. Also good value.
