Amd is known for poor single threaded applications. The 1090t would actually be better for multi threaded applications because that's what they are designed for.

That's why Intel chips are better, they perform much better than AMD in single threaded programs

Too bad! So does this mean that it wont help even if I get an 8350?

Is there any way to know how many frames I will get less than a system that isnt bottlenecking the card? That is to say, is there any way to know how many frames would I get less than the current reviews out there?

Thanks a lot! smile.gif

You can ask people here that have the 8350 and your card to see what fps there getting in certain games that you play.

The 8350 is not much better than the 1090T in single threaded app's but the 8350 will overclock much higher.

http://www.anandtech.com/bench/Product/697?vs=146

You can Tinker with this and see for yourself.

The common misconception is that the only thing that matters at a high resolution is the GPU, which is completely false. With increased resolution you will get a pretty hefty blow to your graphics card's capabilities, but it still will impact the CPU performance as well.

So let me get this straight. A more powerful card than my current one will give no performance boost in games where my CPU is currently bottlenecking my current GPU? Meaning - in some games, there will be no performance gains at all?

It will help, but it will still bottleneck.. AMD is not near intel for single threaded performance, and since most games are dual threaded, the more cores that help AMD's multi-threaded capabilities do not help with gaming. There is no clear answer to check how badly you will be bottlenecked, almost all benchmarks will use an i7 for their benchmarks.

Correct. Especially in un-optimized games like Skyrim. Console ports will be the worst.

I'm having a really hard time finding someone with an AMD CPU and a Titan. I found someone in the Titan owners' thread like I mentioned earlier in my original post, but unfortunately I cannot find him now.

I know that the 8350 isnt all that better than a 1090T. This is why I intend to wait for Haswell, or maybe steamroller if the performance boost is big enough in single-threaded apps.

Thanks! smile.gif

If the game is cpu intensive. If you are bottlenecking now getting a better card will not help very much if any.
It's like putting a 4 cylinder into a Lamborghini lol Not going to work out very well lol

Thats a really big bummer! There's no way that I can get a whole new system right now. And getting the GPU will be a bigger waste of money if I cannot get the performance out of it.

Well what you could do is just upgrade to an i5 with Z77 mobo and then sell your current cpu, mobo, gpu and PSU. Then upgrade to a 7950 with a PSU upgrade so you can add a second 7950 later tongue.gif

Selling is not an option for me. When I upgrade I'm going to keep this system as a secondary one, esp because of very poor resell value.
I'm not very fond of SLI. Also, I was opting for an upgrade only because of the HUGE performance boost Titan has to offer. A 7950 wouldnt be nearly as powerful as a Titan.

EDIT : would've upgraded PSU if I had gotten the Titan anyways.
