[DO] EA Refusing Refunds Over Simcity. - Page 52

If you all hate EA so much, why did you buy the game? Just so you'd have another reason to whine and complain about them? Well guess what, if you hate them but then buy their game, that's giving them more support to keep doing what they are doing. You guys really need to think through what you're doing before you do it.

Also, for all of you who bought it through Origin and are complaining about not getting a refund, read the EULA. It says a few things that I will directly quote:

"PLEASE READ THIS CAREFULLY. IT AFFECTS YOUR RIGHTS."
Then goes on..

"By entering into this Agreement, you and EA expressly waive the right to a trial by jury or to participate in a class action."
and then..

"YOU UNDERSTAND THAT BY THIS PROVISION, YOU AND EA FOREGO THE RIGHT TO SUE IN COURT AND HAVE A JURY TRIAL."

Now I'm sorry you all feel you got screwed out of your money, but you agreed to a legal contract and gave up your rights and therefore they can legally deny you your refund. Next time you want to complain about something, do your homework before getting involved.

Relax, it's ok man. A lot of the people complaining about the game here didn't even buy it. thumb.gif

The whole "you can't sue us" line in EULAs isn't very strong, however businesses have every right to have a no refund policy so long as it is clearly stated (and it is in Origin's EULA which you have to agree to when creating an account).

By all means we should call everyone that posts a reviews for electronics on OCN liars and trolls as they didn't buy the product here...

There are lot of sources for non-owners to form opinions over.

However, I am getting the feeling that the server issues are coming to an end. The only real issue I've been reading about is that people will spend a night playing a city and then log in the next day and not be able to access that city because the server is full, but nothing is stopping them from starting a new one.

This is now the major issue with the game...bugs. A couple of patches and I might consider buying it. I just don't really like buying disposable games, but old rickety mmos are still running many years later after their lauches, so I'd hope they'd be able to keep SC5 up for at least three years. EA is still running the Ultima Online servers I guess...but they get a sub from those people.

Well, buying something from one retailer and leaving reviews for it on a totally unrelated retailer is kind of... dumb? In my opinion. You don't buy a shirt at Walmart and leave a good/bad review for the shirt on Amazon, do you? Amazon should only allow people to leave reviews if they have ordered that product on their account. The 1,600+ negative reviews on Amazon may look like a lot, but even if those 1,600 really are legitimate customers feeling the high server loads, that's a pretty minuscule number out of millions.

Can you leave an opinion anywhere on Origin though? The forums I guess...but there you run the risk of getting banned and loosing your whole Origin account. I honestly have never even looked at them.

No, but you do have MetaCritic, and I'm willing to bet my day's salary more than a handful of people that didn't buy the game left their troll reviews across multiple sites such as Meta + Amazon.

I try to look at the whole ordeal like any other situation where you make a judgement of something.

Do you make your conclusion on a movie based on the first 10 minutes of the movie, and leave the theater and thrash the movie with negative reviews? (Metaphorically similar to judging an online game by its launch day server woes).

Do you make your conclusion on a novel based on its first few pages?

Do you make your final judgement about a new restaurant in town on their opening day with huge customer traffic? I personally usually give them a few chances and eventually cross them off my dine-out list after consistent results.

Your logic is severely skewed. If someone likes the product - why is it dumb to leave review on several places?
I don't see a difference of leaving a review on amazon, newegg or OCN. Are you calling all people leaving reviews on OCN dumb? They bought their electronics on newegg, microcenter, bestbuy...etc.

You know what's a miniscule number? The number of 5 star reviews compared to 1 star reviews. thumb.gif

I'll post this again in case you missed it earlier.

I've just chalked it up as a loss and moved on. Maybe in 6 months they'll have it out of paid beta.

Go ahead and continue spewing that this game is perfect, and everybody is making a mountain out of a molehill.

There must be a reason why more negative feedback is being written about Sim City than positive.

Oh I am quite sure there were some...the EA hate train is typically quite full. However, I think the numbers here speak for themselves. There can't be that many trolls...and even if there is...just the fact that many people hate EA enough to take time out of their day to go make fraudulent rating posts show there is a problem. Perhaps not with Sim City 5 in particular though, but a problem with something EA is doing. I am still wrinkling my nose at this client server game play...I am still not sure if I want to support this idea or not. I am warming up to it I guess...or at least understanding why they did it. I don't think I will ever agree with it...understand it though...maybe.
